WILDCAT STADIUM, BETHEL COLLEGE MCKENZIE, TENNESSEE Memphis Sound Drum & Bugle Corps is proud to offer a $5.00 discount until July 15, 2008* off the General Admission price of $15.00 (Show Day admission price) for Group purchases. Students and Adults who wish to attend this event at this discounted price can purchase in lots of 25 or more for this ONE TIME purchase opportunity. Tickets will only be available on-line at www.DCI.org The band director will receive a poster and information about our event. The band director will collect money from the students and contact Drum Corps International directly to order tickets. The tickets, your receipt for the purchase and a driving instruction stuffer will be mailed to the band director. A single $10 handling fee is added to your purchase total. The following wonderful music educators have signed up with TMEA per Ron Meers for Mentors... Dru Davidson, Skip Quinn, David Chipman, Tom Hay..... also willing to participate in Emerging Leadership Conference are Emily Couturier, Alice Keelin, and James Weil. Thanks. D. Date: 4/22/2008 8:17:22 AM Announcement: Band Program Eliminated It has just been announced that the Band program at Crestview Middle School in Covington, TN will be eliminated next year. This is the 6 - 8 grade feeder-program for Covington High School, where Dr. Alan Kinningham alan@kinninghammusic.com has been the Director for twelve years. Not only will this action remove Alice Keelin akeelin@tipton-county.com from instruction at Crestview, and her many students from our association, but will in turn be the destruction of an entire Band program at Covington High. Both of these schools have stood proud with WTSBOA and had many students participate in every facet of our association. An irony of this action.is that this is a Tipton County School, where also resides Brighton and Munford. Though there is no word on any affect on the other programs in Tipton County, it is sad that administrative decisions can cause what appears to be strong and vibrant programs to be brought to their demise in one pen stroke. Could YOU be next? Please feel free to contact either Director with suggestions, or just words of encouragement. We must NOT let this happen across our region!
